Our most popular songs for 1st dances in 2012, by The Stewart Reid wedding band in Scotland25/7/2012 As one half of a Scottish wedding band, The Stewart Reid Band, I am always keen to find out the most popular ballads our brides & grooms are picking for their 1st dance. As a wedding band in Scotland, we must always offer the best possible set-list to our potential customers. And that means learning the songs people want to hear. So, in 2012, the most requested 1st dance so far is (drumroll please) ... I won't give up by Jason Mraz Since learning the song in April, we've been asked to perform it as a 1st dance 5 times & as a 2nd dance 3 times . Easily the most requested song in our set. Other songs from our set-list that are proving popular are... Just the way you are - Bruno Mars Amazed - Lonestar ( still going strong after 12 years!) Hold on - Michael Buble I'm yours - Jason Mraz Our next song we've been asked to learn is an old Maroon 5 number called "She will be loved" so looking forward to performing that.
If any brides or grooms are reading this please let us know what your 1st dance is / was by commenting on this post. Til next time Stewart Reid www.weddingandtributebands.co.uk

Stewart Reid - How to find a great wedding band in Scotland, Tips on choosing a wedding venue26/3/2012 Hi everyone, as this is my first proper blog i've decided to offer my help and experience to all future bride's and grooms when looking for your wedding band and helpful information on choosing your wedding venue.
Congratulations if you've just got engaged! Planning a wedding should be fun. Sadly there are many potential pitfalls along the way, but hopefully this blog will help you to choose our wedding venue and find the best wedding bands in scotland. The first thing to do is book your venue ... I've been in the wedding entertainment industry for over 15 years and have performed at some of the best Wedding Venue's in the U.K. If you haven't already booked your venue a good place to start is the VOWS Award website. There's nomination lists going back to 2005 so the venues that have been nominated a few times are the ones to look out for as they have consistantly offered outstanding service over a number of years. A little research will give you a healthy list of potential wedding venues. If you are really struggling to make a decision why not ask us for our unbiased opinion. We dont just know about Wedding Bands in Scotland, we can give you the lowdown on many hotels from a live band's perspective. Next is Wedding Entertainment... Where do I start? Its a minefield out there at the moment, as new wedding bands are popping up all the time. Studio recording equipment can be bought cheaper than ever so most Scottish Wedding Bands will have demo's that sound amazing on their website. What you must do is make a short-list of about 5 wedding bands you like and make sure you go and see them live at a Wedding Band Showcase where they will be using their own equipment (p.a. system, lights etc...) You're probably thinking "why dont i just check out the VOWS award website for wedding bands as well?" Well, the category for Wedding Venue is the most competitive category at The Vows Awards, but the Category for Musicians & Entertainers includes pipers, DJ's, string quartets and wedding bands so it's less effective as a search tool. Although if you like a wedding band and they have won a VOWS Award then its pretty safe to assume they are very good at what they do. Remember, any band can be made to sound good on a recorded Demo. The question is... do they sound as good live? |
